There was a period of three months or so, I think three or four years ago, where the only thing I listened to was the Pi soundtrack.

The DVD for La jetée, possibly the greatest SF film ever made, had been on my Amazon wishlist for about that long and Sans Soleil came with it. I was also blown away. Did you watch the English language version or the French with subtitles? I believe that nothing is different apart from the opening quote.

I'd say that a very important part of this is to make the magazines available in electronic form. I personally think it would be wonderful to get a new dose of scifi/spefi/whatever novels monthly on my Kindle or iPad, to read on my lunch hour or during a commute. I personally wouldn't consider subscribing to a paper magazine - I have a year's backlog of unread Black Static somewhere, before I decided not to renew the subscription :/ Had I had it in e-format, would've been a different story.

It's interesting to see how differently you relate to fiction than I do. Fantasy landscapes move me if I have never seen anything like them, and couldn't have imagined them. I have been most impressed by Jack Vance and Tolstoy because they created genuinely strange images in my mind.
